An Ass Out of You and Me

Its a popular quote, “what happens when you assume? You make an ass out of you and me.”

Assume should be a four letter word. As you can see from its dictionary definition, It is contained as a completely self centered word, ridged, there is no room for discussion. It is a state of mind, an action, that destroys. It eats away at productivity, and relationships, distorting them until they become something unrecognizable to all parties.

The minute some one makes an assumption they are tearing down the most important of all human functions, communication. The ASSumer becomes a rogue, removing themselves from the group, and taking the risk of allowing mundane details to spiral out of control.

The good part of assuming is called an inference, and the big difference is communication. When you communicate an assumption it becomes an inference, you elevate the shady details into the light.
