Intelligence: Cause or Effect of Wealth

Is intelligence a factor in acquiring wealth?
Yes.
But to try to determine the cause of wealth by simply looking at the intelligence of the wealthy, well that would be like:

  • Listening to a concerto being played only by violin
  • Reading only one characters lines in a play
  • Watching Jaws, with no sound
  • or, eating a banana split, with out ice cream.

Your just not getting the whole experience.

Each success story in the United States is very unique, and while many people are born into money, more still make their own fortunes. I highly doubt you will find a highly divergent correlation between the intelligence of the rich and poor.

People who gain their own wealth, or are able to retain their parents, are more likely to share qualities like; discipline, work ethic, and perseverance.

I would expect the most intelligent people are evenly dispersed throughout the Social Stratification Spectrum How Wealthy were the most intelligent people in history? Beethoven, Einstein, Dahli, DaVinci, Edison, did not live impoverished lives but were not driven by a need to build personal wealth.

Ultimately there is no cause or effect between intelligence and wealth, no egg before the chicken. In this case the egg is reptilian, and the chicken, well its a chicken.

The First. (and Last?) Colorset

This morning has alot of firsts.

I awoke on the floor of my bedroom.
I will perform my first colorset as a reservist, this will also be the first colorset I perform in anything other than a dress uniform. This may be my last colorset.

Naval Air Station Atlanta is disestablishing, the base will be taken by the Georgia Department of Defense.

Yes, The State of Georgia has its own DoD.

As part of this ceremony I will lower the Navy Colors, the Commanding officer of NAS Atlanta will put a case on it. I will then exit the colorset and march off the set, leaving a blank spot for the Georgia Armry Guard flag to step in.

That’s all there is to it.

Snake Class

As part of my volunteer firefighting course, I took a snake class. The class was designed to help us identify the Venomous snakes around north Georgia, and how to administer on the sceen treatment of an envenomated person.

There are six venomous snakes in GA, four of which are found in North Georgia.

Copperheads

Cotton Mouths

Canebrake Rattlesnake

Eastern Diamondback

Pygmy Rattle snakes

So what do you do if a venomous snake bites you?
No you don’t try to suck the venom out, or put magical stones on the wound to draw the venom into them… You just sit down and die? Nope!
Statistically over 99% of venomous snake bites in the US are not fatal.

So if you are biten by a venomous snake, just go to the hospital. They have anti-venom there, and will also treat the symptoms.

Still the best thing you could do is stay away from these guys in the first place.

Two Quick Links

Stumbling all night, and regrettably avoiding those spreadsheets for my class, I came across two links I’d like to share.

Link #1: 365black.com
I came across this link while following a thread from a marketing website that had posted an article on racially targeted advertisements and their development since the early 1970′s. And this is it, the culmination of targeted advertisement/ job offer bulletin.

On a personal level, I disagree with the existence of most burger joints, being a vegitarian. Eating at fast food restaurants is like shoveling the most vile food substitutes into your mouth. Horrible!

But that is an argument for another day. In my opinion the deliberate one sided, racist, targeting of this add campaign is like a slap across the face. Who in their right mind would dream something like this up? I cant imagine the flack any company would get if they posted an add site called 365white. (Yea I checked, and found 365white.net a dentists site)

I really wouldn’t be taken back if the site was selling anything other than what I consider to be poison.

Link #2:Over 101 Reasons not to be a vegan
Im not vegan, but none the less, I can sympathize with their plight.

Some of my Favorites from this Page are:
19. You might have to walk or drive a little further to visit a store or restaurant that has food you can eat.

36. Because my economy teacher said, “It is obvious that a plant-based diet is good for health and the environment, but the economy would suffer greatly and people would lose their jobs if everyone stopped eating meat.”

52. after getting to know you for your sparkling personality (not to mention stunning good looks) people act stunned and tricked when you finally get around to mentioning you’re a vegan. you desperately try to think of a good attention-grabbing remark to fill the awkward silence. it’s times like these when i wish i was gay.

60. People think that you must be anemic or have some other sickness if you’re vegan. You just can’t be getting proper nutrition! They keep pointing out, “You look kind of pale today” or “You look tired” or “Are you feeling okay? Are you really feeling okay?” (I had a college doctor who insisted that I had to eat meat and eggs to stay healthy.)

122. People in your church (or mosque, synagogue, temple, etc.) tell you that “God told us to eat meat.”
