Being in the south, it is almost social suicide to reject church. Still the center of society, your church decides who you are and whether or not you will be successful.
For the record book, just so everyone knows where I stand.
I am a Christian, but I put much more emphasis on spirituality, as apposed to conventional doctrine.
I am attending a church, I chose primarily because I disagree on many of the sermons. Why? I can easily find people I agree with, and surround myself with them, but there is no growth there. Our notions of what is right and wrong should always be challenged.
So I go to church, stomach the doctrine, and learn. I learn about myself, how I think, why I believe. I also learn about others; what they believe, not always why, (most people are not sure why they believe: they just do. blind faith is faith, and if that’s all you have its better than nothing… i guess.) Ive stopped asking these people questions, they seem to think they are being challenged and quickly become defensive, sometimes accusing, sometimes they see the devil in me (which I dont necessarily disagree with).
Navy Reserves, Its really the benifits that draws me to them. A sense of security, safety, a blanket.
Of course, I’m a little perturbed at the fact that Im sitting just outside the MEPS (military entry processing) building at this moment, it is a waste of time for me, all because some complacent Doc didn’t circle a couple of words on a piece of paper.
I picked up my Reserve ID yesterday, an insignificant event, just another chore to be done in the day. I was very surprised, as I put it into my wallet, in the blank spot my Active duty card rested over the past five years, it fell snuggly into place. The ID seemed not only to fill a spot in my wallet, it seemed to complete a part of my subconsious, as if I had found an old childhood toy at a garage sale.
Mabey I just need a new wallet.
Its been a while since my last post, im sorry but some of the events from the past week are not to be disclosed because of a pending trial.
Needless to say New Orleans and Charleston were a blast, sometimes we can have to much fun!
Trips over and its back to work…. oh wait there are no jobs. Thank god for the USNR (Navy Reserves) were I can get your hands on some of that endless money the government is throwing around these days.
Ive also applied to new schools: North Georgia, Reinhardt, and Georgia State. I might break down and apply for Kennesaw as well.
Yes, Im staying in the North Georgia area, I do love these mountains.
More to come.
